Home Library Service

Home Library Service

What is our Home Library Service?

Glenelg Libraries provides free monthly deliveries of library materials to members of our community who are physically unable to visit their local library.

Our Home Library Services Coordinator works with a group of volunteers to provide a friendly, personalised service to suit your individual reading, listening and viewing interests.

Who can use our Home Library Service?

  • Residents of the Glenelg Shire who are temporarily or permanently housebound due to illness, injury, frailty or disability and who are unable to visit or have someone take them to a library.
  • Residents of aged care facilities or supported accommodation.
  • Carers may also be eligible.

Please enquire at our libraries and ask to discuss this with the Home Library Services Coordinator.

What can you borrow?

You can borrow unlimited items from the library collection which includes:

  • A wide range of fiction and non-fiction books
  • Large print and regular print books
  • Audio books
  • Magazines
  • DVD's

How can you become a volunteer?

We recognise the important contribution volunteers make to our community and value the connections that volunteers develop by choosing to visit residents who may be isolated.

Volunteers receive training and ongoing support and are matched, where possible, to people living in their local area who wish to receive this service.

If you would like to become a valued volunteer, or receive further information, please contact the Home Library Services Coordinator on 5522 2265.

You can also download our Home Library Services brochure and complete the form within.
