Expression of Interest (EOI) from Gunditjmara Artist/s or Aborginal Person/s Living on Gunditjmara Country

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI) FROM GUNDITJMARA ARTIST/S, OR ABORIGINAL PERSON/S LIVING ON GUNDITJMARA COUNTRY

Who are we:

Glenelg Libraries is located in South West Victoria. We are privileged to be on Gunditjmara Country and are based in Portland, with smaller branches in Heywood and Casterton, and a Library2Go outreach service which regularly visits the towns of Dartmoor, Digby and Merino.

The Project:

We are currently in the process of replacing and fitting out a new vehicle (an Iveco van) for our Library2Go outreach service. As part of this project Glenelg Libraries are looking to engage an Aboriginal artist/s or designer/s to produce a design or image to be used for the outside wrap of our new vehicle.

Our values include lifelong learning and the sharing of knowledge and we recognise the importance of connecting the community. We are seeking the artwork/design to embody these values and help ensure that the outreach service is an accessible, inclusive and a culturally safe place to visit for everyone.

In addition to the existing Library Outreach service, Glenelg Libraries intends to utilise the new vehicle to explore additional opportunities for visits, storytime sessions and other activities to increase engagement with local playgroups, kindergartens and other local organisations across the Shire.

Timeline and Funding

Submissions of up to $5000 inc GST will be accepted either from individual artists or collaborations by more than one artist. Timelines for the artwork to be completed are as follows:

  • 22 December 2021 – Final Concept
  • 28 January 2021 – Progress
  • 11 February 2022 – Final Design

Submitting an EOI:

Artists or designers should submit their interest including:

  • Initial concept ideas
  • Project costs and timeline

  • Individual and collaborative works will be considered, in either contemporary and/or traditional art forms

The finished artwork will be provided to signwriters to convert the principal design to an entire van wrap or to use the artwork/design motives in a final artwork which works to wrap the van.
