Author Event - Jen Risk, Abalone Cooking: A Simple Guide

Join local passionate foodie and cook Jen Risk as she launches her first book, Abalone Cooking: A Simple Guide.

Jen’s love of cooking started early, learning first from her mum and then with special birthday restaurant visits encouraging her to try new things. While at University she started to buy foodie magazines, treated herself to fancy restaurants more often and her cookbook collection started to grow.

Despite always being a passionate foodie and cook, as well as a GP, Jen’s repertoire did not include abalone until 2012.

At the time she thought that abalone was difficult to prepare and that there was only one way to cook it. A friend and abalone farmer then showed her how to poach abalone and introduced Jen to the farmed product, snap frozen and readily available from the freezer. No diving required!

Inspired, and with time on her hands due to illness, her passion grew for developing recipes with abalone. Last year, she made the decision to put these into a book and with help from friends and family Abalone Cooking: A Simple Guide was born.

Jen loves living in Cape Bridgewater and the book also includes many local photos to showcase the beautiful region in which we live.

Abalone Cooking: A Simple Guide, will make it easy for everyone to try different methods of cooking abalone for themselves.
